Connect, Include, Engage, Empower:
Reinventing Learning Communities

May 17-19, 2021, hosted by Concordia University, Montreal QC

Day 1 & 2 Keynotes

Dr. Althea Need Kaminske and Dr Carolina Kuepper-Tetzel, The Learning Scientists
& Dr. George Dei, O.I.S.E. Social Justice Education

Over the past year, we have responded to the pandemic by moving pedagogy, strategies and services online to reach our students. This year has also led to a call to action to address the prejudice and marginalization faced by individuals within all systems, including education. LSAC 2021 will help us explore and reflect on these innovations and changes in engagement, practice and attitude.

We encourage you to present on topics associated with our theme:

  • Learning strategies for diverse learners
  • Enhancing academic success in virtual environment
  • Addressing stress and anxiety within the current context of learning
  • Creating equitable learning opportunities
  • Practitioners’ toolkit
  • New practices from 2020 to keep and continue

Options for presentation formats include pre-recorded (asynchronous),
semi-live (a pre-recorded component accompanied by live chat and/or Q and A) and synchronous – live in both presentation delivery and chat, incorporating interactive features.

Please note that synchronous presentations will use Zoom,
accessed through the conference platform.

------------------------------------------------------

With these options in mind, please choose from these choices for sessions:

Research-to-practice presentation:  45 minutes: a 30-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes for questions and discussion. Research-to-practice presentations can be either synchronous or semi-live.

Creative workshop: 60 minutes, synchronous, integrating examples of ways to apply innovative strategies, with interactive opportunities for hands-on practice and discussion using features such as breakout rooms.

Short quick-tip or strategy-sharing video (10-minutes max): asynchronous (pre-recorded); a discussion board will be in place for feedback and follow-up.
